INITIATIVES
Building Blocks has taken up five new initiatives to continue building up the blocks in our Kalamazoo community. See what initiatives are happening in your neighborhood!
RING Camera Initiative
Building Blocks distributed and installed 200 RING Cameras in Kalamazoo homes as part of the City of Kalamazoo’s Gun Violence Intervention initiative.
Lighting Up the Northside
Participating residents installed 60 solar street lights and 60 Nite-Brite Address Plates on 5 new Blocks in Northside. Over 90 community members participated in this initiative.
Maggie Wardle Porch Safety Initiative
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Building Blocks residents nominated 20 porch safety projects. Through this initiative, all 20 porches were repaired and made safer at Kalamazoo homes.
Reforesting the Vine
In response to Vine resident leaders, Building Blocks supported reforesting efforts including the planting of 32 Native trees and 302 native plants.
Reforesting the Edison
Building Blocks partnered with the Edison Neighborhood Association to plant 20 native trees and create a pollinator garden in the heart of Edison.
